Our Story
Originally from Santa Barbara County, CA, Michael Gallup and Yazmin Lomeli-Gallup started farming in 2017. Their first farm was a micro vegetable and flower farm in Carpinteria which lasted about 3 years until their desire to own a home and live off the land became a reality. Their dream took the pair to a remote 130-acre off-grid (exclusively solar powered and spring water fed) ranch in the mountains of Blue Lake, CA where Gallup Homestead was founded in 2020. Between Yazmin’s passion for flowers and Michael’s sentimental attachment to flower farming, as his father, grandfather, and uncles were flower farmers, they decided to become solely a flower farm. The short growing season and off-grid challenges also led Yazmin and Michael to drying flowers in order to extend their season. Since they welcomed their daughter into the world in 2023, they decided to sell their off-grid homestead the summer of 2024 and move to the coastal town of Lompoc, CA to live and farm closer to family. They just recently purchased about 5 acres of raw land in Solvang, CA and have plans to continue the dream to farm the land, build a farm stand, and build a small cottage.
